The Short Answer

Every UK limited company files annual accounts at Companies House and a corporation tax return (the CT600) with HMRC, and pays corporation tax at 19% on profits up to £50,000 or 25% above £250,000, with marginal relief in between, for the financial year from 1 April 2026. We prepare the accounts and the return, plan the director's pay between salary and dividends, and keep every deadline moving, on a fixed monthly fee.

If you are the director and you are leaving the UK, or have already left, the company usually stays where it is. A UK-incorporated company is automatically UK tax resident, so it keeps filing a CT600 and paying UK corporation tax, and every Companies House obligation continues, including annual accounts and the confirmation statement. What changes is your side: fees for the duties of a UK directorship are UK-source income and generally taxable through PAYE even though you live abroad, dividends to a non-resident shareholder carry no UK withholding tax, and running the company from your new home can make it taxable there too.

We handle the whole cycle for owner-managed companies, from bookkeeping and payroll to the year-end accounts, the corporation tax return and the director's own Self Assessment, in three monthly packages priced by turnover and agreed in writing before any work begins.

What We Do

Handled for you, end to end

  • Annual accounts preparation and Companies House filing, included in every monthly package
  • The corporation tax return (CT600) and corporation tax planning
  • Director remuneration structured efficiently between salary and dividends, including how that choice changes once you live overseas
  • PAYE on director fees for a non-resident director of a UK company
  • Company tax residence and permanent establishment reviewed when the director moves abroad
  • Closing the company cleanly when you leave the UK: strike off or a Members Voluntary Liquidation, and the timing of the final distribution

What Usually Needs Solving

The points that decide what you pay

Company tax residence

A UK company does not become a free agent just because its director leaves the country: where it is actually run from can decide where it is taxed.

Permanent establishment

A director or contractor working from another country can quietly create a tax presence, and a tax bill, for your company abroad.

PAYE on director fees

Fees you earn for the duties of a UK directorship are UK-source income and generally taxable in the UK through PAYE, even if you never set foot in the country for most of the year.

Extracting profit as a non-resident

How you take money out of the company without being taxed twice, including the salary-versus-dividend choice for directors who live overseas.

Common Questions

Honest answers, before you book

There are several legitimate strategies to reduce your corporation tax liability. These include maximising allowable business expenses, claiming capital allowances (including the Annual Investment Allowance), utilising Research and Development (R&D) tax credits where applicable, timing your income and expenditure strategically, and structuring director remuneration efficiently between salary and dividends. We develop a tailored tax planning strategy that minimises your liability while maintaining full compliance.

The most tax-efficient structure depends on your turnover, profit levels, growth plans, and whether you operate internationally. A sole trader structure is simpler but offers less tax planning flexibility. A limited company provides corporation tax rates (currently 25% for profits over £250,000, with marginal relief for profits between £50,000 and £250,000), dividend planning opportunities, and greater credibility. For international operations, holding company structures may offer additional benefits. We analyse your specific circumstances and recommend the optimal structure.

Both. Our monthly packages (Starter, Growth, Premium) provide year-round accounting, tax planning, and compliance support. We also offer one-off services such as individual tax returns, advisory consultations, and specific project work. Many clients start with a one-off engagement and move to ongoing support as their needs grow.
