UK Tax Adviser for Saudi Arabia
A Chartered Tax Adviser for moves between the UK and Saudi Arabia
Departure-year returns, split-year claims, UK rental and property gains, pensions and the return home, for people moving between the UK and Saudi Arabia. Fixed fees agreed before any work starts.
The Short Answer
Horizon UK Tax Solutions is a Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) practice in London that handles the UK side of a move to or from Saudi Arabia: UK residence, the departure-year return, UK property and pensions, and the return home. Saudi Arabia charges no personal income tax on salaries, so the real tax work in this corridor is on the UK side. Three things decide the outcome. Breaking UK residence correctly under the Statutory Residence Test, because simply leaving is not enough. Getting the year of departure right, which is where most mistakes happen. And dealing properly with any UK rental property, which stays in the UK net.
The expensive mistake is assuming an Iqama and a Riyadh contract make you non-resident. They do not. Leave partway through a tax year without qualifying for split-year treatment and the whole year can be UK-resident, with your Saudi salary inside HMRC's reach. So we plan the exit before you fly: the full-time work abroad test (sufficient hours overseas with no significant break, fewer than 91 UK days and fewer than 31 UK workdays), the split-year case you will rely on, and the Non-Resident Landlord Scheme if you let out a UK property. Sell UK residential property later and the 60-day report is strict and separate from your annual return.
Everything is handled remotely, so a client in Riyadh, Jeddah or NEOM gets the same service as one in London. You work directly with the founder, Jordan Onraet-Wells, a Chartered Tax Adviser with over 10 years of experience including 7 at a Big Four firm, with year-round support rather than a once-a-year return. Fees are fixed and agreed in writing before any work starts: a non-resident or expat tax return is £550 fixed, and departure or arrival planning is quoted as a fixed fee upfront, never an hourly rate. The practice is rated 5.0 on Google from 19 reviews. Start with a free 30-minute clarity call.
What We Do
Handled for you, end to end
- Departure-year return with the SA109 residence pages, which HMRC's free online service cannot file, carrying your split-year claim under Case 1 or Case 3
- Statutory Residence Test planning for a full-time Saudi posting: the 91-day and 31-workday limits, your remaining UK ties, and a day record that stands up
- NRL1 application so you receive UK rent gross, then the annual landlord return with the SA105 and SA109 pages, even when no tax is due
- The 60-day Capital Gains Tax report when you sell UK residential property from Saudi Arabia, at 18% or 24%, reconciled on the annual return
- Your UK pension and treaty position under the UK-Saudi Double Taxation Convention, settled before you draw anything while living in the Kingdom
- Arrival planning for a move to the UK from Saudi Arabia: the arriver split-year cases, the five-year return trap and FIG relief where it applies
